”Brahms’ Violin Concerto requires a lot more than mere seriousness: it takes soul and depth, but also a sense of humour in the finale. Luke showcased all of the above. Luke’s Brahms was both melodious and dramatic, with meticulously rendered phrases and cultural sound. The second movement was particularly resplendent: lyricism is one of Luke’s specialities."
